The Salvation Army can only carry out its mission with the support of volunteers. From cooking and serving meals to first responders, to providing emergency financial assistance through our disaster social services, our volunteers may be able to get involved in various roles. To ensure that we uphold our mission and provide our volunteers and clients with a safe environment, we have policies requiring all EDS volunteers to be trained and background checked.

If you would like to become a Salvation Army EDS volunteer, please go through the following steps:

  1. Register as a new volunteer on our national EDS website and take the free online "Introduction to Emergency Disaster Services" course on that website.
  2. Following your registration, you'll hear back shortly from our Divisional EDS Team about next steps - filling our some local volunteer paperwork, initially conducting a background check, and connecting you with your local EDS team
